Old Moore County Jail
A century of incarceration, hardship, and unexplained voices left behind.
Built in the late 1800s, the Old Moore County Jail housed inmates for nearly a century before its closure. Today, it stands preserved as one of Lynchburg's most haunting historic landmarks — a stone-and-iron building heavy with documented activity.
Guests have reported disembodied voices echoing through the cell block, sudden cold drafts in sealed rooms, shadow figures pacing the upper landing, and the unmistakable sound of metal doors closing on empty cells. United Beyond Paranormal has investigated this site dozens of times — and the activity continues.
